Advent means coming... Who is coming?
The baby Jesus is coming!!!
Important Points of Interest:
Next week (12/17/18-12/20/18) during the afternoon our classroom will transform to Santa's STEAM Workshop! Kindergartners will be challenged with prompts such as:

  1. Make a sleigh for Santa with the items provided
  2. Can you turn on the Christmas lights with only 9V batteries?
  3. Make a shelf for an elf
  4. Santa is late! Can you help him? (Hoping for things like a catapult or a parachute)
  5. Make a 3-dimensional tree using items provided (nuts, bolts, washers, felt, gumdrops, toothpicks, paper, and tape.
  6. Experimenting with oil and water by making galaxy ornaments (I'm still trying to figure out if I can send these home without making a mess. This might be an in-class experiment only.)
  7. Making reindeer toothpaste
  8. Make a bed for Jesus to lay his sweet head.
  9. Make a form of transportation for Mary and Joseph.
Here is a link to a google doc if you are able to donate any items to Santa's STEAM Workshop. Most items can be picked up at the grocery store or you might even have some around the house (any old nuts, bolts, and washers would be great).

Christmas Service Project:
Collection items for Helping Hand-Me-Downs, a nonprofit St. Louis company, will be held Monday, Dec. 17th - Friday the 21st. Watch for designated collection site locations at school or you may bring them to the classroom.
The following items are needed the most.

  • Gently used items (i.e. nothing new with tags) such as clothing (sizes preemie to 16-18 boys and girls), shoes, coats, toys, books, baby gear, etc.
  • Cribs and unexpired car seats
  • Laundry detergent, personal care items, and cleaning supplies
  • Kindergarten Advent service will take place on Friday, December 21st. The service will start at 8:30 (time was pushed back to make sure we could get everyone in their costumes) and should last about one hour.

3rd Quarter Popcorn words are coming home on Friday.

I will not send home a reading book on Wednesday.

Looking ahead:
  • Our class Christmas party will be on Friday, December 21st and it is an early dismissal day (noon).
  • Enrollment for next school year opens on January 7th.
