Important Points of Interest:
- Our class memory keepsake books came in last night. I got them all sorted, so if you ordered a book it will come home in backpacks today.
- Information and permission slips for our Magic House field trip (5/17/19) are coming home in red folders today! I can't believe the end of the year is so close! Please be sure to read all the information in the packet. This field trip is a little more in-depth than the others because the number of helpers is limited and they are responsible for keeping their small group together in the Magic House play area.
- Today (5/3/19) was our last day to check out books at the library.
- Kindergarten sings on Sunday, May 5th at the 10:30 service.
- Our field trip to Towne Park has been rescheduled for Monday, May 6th. Wear red zion shirt and bring a peanut free lunch. Don't forget your booster seats! :) We will leave at 9:15 and should arrive back at 2:00. Drivers: Mrs. Stockstill (Mrs. Smith-4), Mrs. Bromberg (4), Mrs. McBroom (4), Mrs. Jameson (4), Mr. Linneman (4), Mrs. Allen (Mrs. Runge-4)
- Mom's day is planned for Friday, May 10th at 1:00 and both classes will meet our Mom's in the gym. We are so excited to share a fun kinderGARDEN afternoon with our moms!
- The Stockstills will visit us on Tuesday to talk about selling houses and Mr. Linneman is scheduled on 5/14/19 to talk to us about bridge design! We have been learning about the many different types of jobs that people do in our community. I still have many open times if you would like to come in and share what you do with us.
- Zion offers a fun summer camp/childcare for students over the summer months. Register now by going to zionharvester.org/school/summercamp
Looking ahead:
- Next week will be the last time I send home Wednesday weekly reading books. I hope this method helped you get a feel for where your child was at with their reading skills and helped you support their reading progress. I'm sure all of you have seen what I have, and I am AMAZED at the growth of the students! I will take the last two weeks to gather up all the books that are still out. Please double check around your house for any stray Wednesday books. :)
- Watch for our special Mom's Day video that will be shared on Thursday 5/9/19!!!!!
- Thursday, May 16th will be a PJ day! The entire student body will help celebrate Julia's birthday by having a PJ party. Julia washes our lunch trays and she has been so excited all year for a PJ birthday party.
- As we come to the end of the year, it has become a Kindergarten tradition to create a wheels project as we move onto summer fun! Students work on this project with parents at home and bring it to school the last week of class. The vehicle can be a car, a bike, a wagon, or anything that has wheels. You may make it three-dimensional, using boxes, wood, etc., or you may draw or paint it. As always, be creative! These aren’t due until the end of May (please don’t bring it in until then), but I thought I would give you a head start since May can get a little crazy. We had a change of plans... the cars can be brought in anytime after May 14th to put on display in the hallway. Students will take turns sharing their project with the class and have an opportunity to talk about summer plans. Due to the large class sizes, we will be sending them home on Tuesday, May 21st instead of taking them over to the closing chapel.
- I will be sending home student portfolios, students personal memory books, poetry binders, and writing journals on Wednesday, May 22! I love looking through their portfolios and writing journals!!! I hope you love them too.
- Closing chapel for Kindergarten will take place on Thursday, May 23rd at 2:00 and this will be the last day of class for Kindergarteners. This is a special time for parents to come celebrate their child and close out Kindergarten. I can't believe it's almost time for me to let them all go!Kindergarten does not have school on Friday, May 24th (which is the closing chapel day for 1st-8th).
