Coming home in red folders:
I am starting to send home another round of High-Frequency words for those that are ready (those who know all of the second-quarter words). It will come home in a baggie with a little note about what it is. Keep working on the old words even after you start on the new bag. For those who already know all 30 required words for kindergarten, I am sending home a list of 50 words. I am so proud of how hard everyone is working and how excited they are to read!! Keep up the good work! In addition to reading/listening to the books that come home every week squeeze in some time to read to your child. Remember to ask questions along the way, or at the end about the characters, how they felt, the problem(s) that come about, and how it was solved or what lesson was learned. This builds comprehension and this skill is the most difficult to teach because it comes through making connections, thinking, and experience.

December Scholastic book order flyers are coming home. Books usually take 2-5 days to get here. I will place the last order next Friday (12/13). Please let me know if the books are a gift because I can put them in the office for pick up and your child will never know! :)

During the last week of school in December, we will have Santa's STEAM Workshop. All half-day students are invited to stay all day that week! We will build things, make things, try some experiments, etc. Please sign up on the google doc if you can help with any donations. This is an exciting time of year for everyone, especially 5 and 6-year-olds! Instead of sticking to the usual school routine, I like to provide a creative outlet for their energy! :)

Zion's Early Childhood Service Project Invitation
Zion Lutheran School and Church have partnered with Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Louis to assist with an after-school program. Each Tuesday, Zion members provide after-school care activities, dinner, and share Bible stories with 25 to 35 school-aged children. They are in need of school boxes for the second semester. Each early childhood class has been assigned a specific item in the hopes of putting together complete boxes for each child. Items can be brought to school  Wednesday, 12/4- Thursday, 12/19.
Our class has been asked to donate mechanical pencils
Thank you for considering this special gift.

On  December 20th Kindergarten and Zion's 8th-grade classes will perform a Christmas Service at 8:20 in the morning. Please join us in the sanctuary!
We picked parts out of a basket today. We share roles with Mrs. Reed's class, so I only have part of the cast. There were some students who wanted a different part and I was able to grant their request.
Everyone said they felt great about their part! Please let me know if anyone is unhappy with their part. We can always have more shepherds and angels.
