Important Points of Interest:
- We will be going to Breeze Park on Thursday, November 15th. Please donate a pair of warm socks for your child to take. We still need a couple of drivers. I have enough drivers for 12 students so far. We will leave around 9:45. We might arrive after our regularly scheduled lunch time so I will provide a pizza, applesauce, and juice lunch for the students. If your child does not like pizza please send in a cold lunch for them on Thursday, November 15.
- This coming week I will be sending home a few more cards to add to your child's writing support packet I sent home several weeks ago. We are moving on to the following concepts: 1) We write about what we know, what we can do, and the past. 2) Every letter makes a sound. 3) Sentence mechanics- fixing up our sentences by checking for capital letters, spacing, and punctuation. We are also moving beyond the concept of "being authors" and instead we are calling ourselves "storytellers" to support thinking beyond just writing and more about what we are writing and why we are writing.
- The Thanksgiving Food Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14. Each class is asked to donate a specific food item in order to provide complete meal boxes for the families at the Seminary. Kindergarten is asked to donate canned fruit and canned veggies.
- Don't forget, next week is Fall Auction Round-Up! We are looking for donations for the Zion School Auction April 12, 2019. You can drop them off before school the week of November 12th at the main school entrance or the Early Childhood entrance. For every $25 in donations, you will receive a ticket for an opportunity to win 2 FREE Auction Tickets! Need donation ideas? Grab a leaf off an Auction Trees in the school and church to help you shop. Any help is appreciated! Please check out the auction facebook page for updates!
- Scholastic book make great Christmas presents! Watch for a couple of flyers coming home that can help you with book ideas. You can also shop the flyers online by clicking on the Scholastic link in the right-hand margin of our blog. You will probably have to view the blog on a computer in order to see the side margin. I will be placing orders the last day of November and I can place another order the end of the first week in January if I need to in order for the books to arrive before Christmas break. If you would like to keep it a surprise, just send me an email and I can put them in a bag and hold them in the school office for you to pick up at your convenience.
- A new Bible study is starting on November 11 and will run until December 30. Jon and Amy Bernhardt and Joe and Laura Arens will discuss, "Bringing Up Girls and Boys" by using video clips by Dr. James Dobson. It will focus of offering advice and encouragement rooted in biblical principles on raising strong, healthy and confident children.
- A note from Mrs. Lail (Kindergarten Music Teacher)
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Thank you for bringing the Kinders out Saturday evening to sing in Church. They did an amazing job and warmed the hearts of many people. Their enthusiasm in helping to lead worship was a gift to all in attendance.
To God be the Glory!
Looking ahead:
- Thanksgiving break is November 19th-23rd.
- Mark your calendars for December 21st because Kindergarten students will help the 8th graders with their Christmas service. This will be done for the entire school and parents/families are welcome to join us. It will take place in the church sanctuary and it will start right away around 8:10ish. That is also the day of our Christmas party and it is an early dismissal day(noon).
