Things coming home in Red Friday Folders:

• Dad's Day invitation with all the important information is coming home today. Dad's will receive a schedule of events once they arrive. Please let me know if someone is coming to fill in for Dad.
• Pumpkin Patch permission slips are coming home today. We will go to Eagle's Fork Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday, October 9th. We will need parent drivers, so if you are interested in going make sure you have completed the background check for drivers. You can contact mthomason@zionharvester.org for more information. The background checks are good for one full year.
•  We have been working hard on capital and lowercase letter identification, letter sounds, and rhyming. These are skills that need to be solid before reading can begin. I am sending home letter identification assessment sheets (one with capital letters and/or one with lowercase letters) to help parents know which letters to work on at home. The letters with a line through them were identified correctly. If you do not have these forms in your folder, that means that your child was able to identify all of their letters.
• I am sending home another packet of Scholastic Book order forms. You can use the Scholastic link located in the right-hand margin of our class blog (you will have to open the blog on a computer to see it). The link will automatically pull up our class code.

Points of interest:

• Toy cars and Superheroes! I am in need of several toy cars! These can be used! I would like 6 sets of 26, so I would gladly take any donations! I also need a few small action figure superheroes for a STEM project. These can also be used. They can be Legos or larger (Barbie Doll size) action figures. • Don't forget this Wednesday (9/18/19) is a half-day. All students (even normal half-day kindergartners) will dismiss at 12:00. I will take our normal half-day kindergartners to the Sonshine lot for pick up at 12:00, like usual. Please let me know if your child will need to go to aftercare that day, otherwise, all students will be dismissed per their usual pickup location plans.
• Early Childhood Trunk-or-Treat will take place in the Early Childhood wing of our building on Friday, October 4th from 5-6. First-eighth grade has Trunk-or-Treat that same evening from 6-8 in the church parking lot.
• No School on Oct. 10th and 11th! Teachers conference.
• Oct. 25th is the end of the first quarter! Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place after school on Wednesday, October 30th and the morning of October 31st. More information will be posted later but I wanted to give you a heads up.
